A sieve with berries
The book “A sieve with Berries" is a poetic cycle accompanied by the author's illustrations.
The language of the texts refers to the tales of famous russian writers Pavel Bazhov (the name of the cycle is the image of one of his tales, "Sinyushkin's Well"), Miсhael Prishvin, Vitaly Bianki, with their specific folklore motives, heartfelt descriptions of nature.
At the same time, the illustrations represent an homage to great ukrainian folk artists and masters of Petrikiv painting (Tetyana Pyata, Maria Primachenko, Elizaveta Mironova).
The choice of traditional motives in this case is a radical decision. The book is made in the style of an illustrated children's book with poetry, which creates a voluminous artistic expression.
However, this language of images is included in a new feminist and queer context, as a result of which it is deconstructed and appropriated to a new discourse.
Foreword by Oksana Vasyakina, poet, writer, and Maria Latsinskaya, editor of the queer media «Otkrytye» («O-zine»).
In 2021, the book will be published in English in London by Calque Press
